About this product
SX100 external stern thruster 24V — 100kg of thrust (116kg at 24 V), sized by Sleipner for motor boats of 12–17 m (39–56 ft). An external stern thruster that mounts outside the hull — no tunnel to cut — with on/off control from a standard Sleipner panel.
What you get, and what to order with it
This is the thruster unit as supplied by Sleipner. You also need an on/off control panel (8960 single or 8940 dual joystick), an ANL 325 fuse and holder, and battery cable sized to the run. The matching items are listed under “You may also need” below, and we will check the whole kit against your boat before it ships.

- Intelligent Power Control — minimal delay on direction change to reduce wear, with automatic protection
- Galvanic separation between motor and gear leg to protect against stray-current corrosion
- Overheat protection — the thruster protects itself before the motor can be damaged
- Sealed drive lubrication and ceramic shaft seals — no oil feed to plumb
- External mounting — fits outside the hull at the stern, so no tunnel has to be cut
Power and battery
Draws 340A at 21 V nominal. Sleipner specify a battery of at least 680 CCA (EN) and an ANL 325 fuse. Size the cable with our battery bank and cable size calculator, and use the thruster size calculator to confirm SX100 is the right size for your boat.
