Which film do I need?
6 mil suits small craft and shorter covers; for a cover standing through a full monsoon season our guide steps up to 7 mil or heavier. White is the colour our guide recommends for the tropics: it reflects heat and keeps the boat cooler under the cover.
What it fits. Width is the dimension that goes over the boat. Run a soft tape from the perimeter band on one side, over the highest and widest point, to the band on the other side, and add 600–900 mm for the hem: this 20 ft (6.1 m) roll covers an over-the-top measurement up to about 5.1 m. The standard sizing chart pairs 20 ft film with beams up to about 2.6 m (8.5 ft); sailing boats, flybridges and arches push you up a size or two. Between two widths, take the wider roll. Roll length should cover length overall plus about 20%, so 240 ft (73.2 m) is enough for about 60 m of boat in total.
