MG Duff Anodes in Thailand — Zinc, Aluminium & Magnesium

Drake Marine stocks MG Duff anodes in Thailand — the British cathodic-protection standard for hulls, shafts, propellers, rudders and trim tabs. The right anode material, the right size, from stock in Trang.

Zinc, aluminium or magnesium?

The material must match the water your boat lives in: zinc for full seawater, aluminium for seawater and brackish (and increasingly the do-everything choice — lighter, longer-lasting and effective in both), magnesium only for fresh water. Thai marinas and estuaries are frequently brackish — if your boat moves between the river and the sea, aluminium is usually the correct answer. Unsure? Send us your boat and berth details.

What we stock

Browse the MG Duff range: hull anodes (bolt-on and weld-on), shaft anodes to fit metric and imperial shafts, propeller nut anodes, rudder and trim-tab discs, and engine pencil anodes. Plus Side-Power thruster anodes for bow and stern thrusters.

When to change

Replace any anode that is 50% wasted. A healthy anode slowly disappears — that’s it doing its job. An anode that never wastes usually means poor bonding, not good luck: check the electrical connection to the metal it protects.

Frequently asked questions

Which anode material for Thai waters?

Zinc or aluminium in open seawater; aluminium if you berth in brackish rivers or estuaries. Never magnesium in the sea.

Do you stock MG Duff in Thailand?

Yes — hull, shaft, prop and engine anodes held in Trang with nationwide delivery.

How often should anodes be replaced?

Inspect at every haul-out or every six months in the tropics; replace at 50% wastage.

Plan your haul-out — send us your anode plan

Yard time is expensive; missing anodes mid-refit is worse. Ahead of your haul-out, send us your anode plan — the list from your last lift, a survey sheet, or simply photos of what’s on the boat now — and we’ll work through it hull fitting by hull fitting. You get back an accurate order list with part numbers, alloy choices matched to your waters (aluminium for brackish and tropical marinas, zinc where it still makes sense), quantities and prices, ready for your engineer, captain or yard to check and confirm — all in plenty of time before you lift out.

Email hello@drakemarine.com with “Anode plan” and your boat’s name, or use the contact form. We’ll turn it round within a working day.
